Zariya- AR RAHMAN, FARAH SIRAJ, ANI CHOYING- 2017
AR Rahman (the child prodigy Indian composer, singer, and music producer) brings his music with Jordan’s Musical Ambassadress, Farah Siraj with Nepalese Buddhist Nun Ani Choying bridging boundaries in music.
Zariya is about celebrating motherhood. It’s a song sung to a mother by her daughter. Zariya means “Medium” . God as a creator has made Mother medium for creation.
“Tu Zariya, hu main zariya (You are the medium, so am I) Aur uski kirpa, dariya dariya (And his kindness, like an ocean… an ocean)”
“Redaha” means “I want her.” “Kaifi ma Redaha” means “Whichever way it is, I want to be with her”.
The Last Mohican- Leo Rojas- Equador
Rojas came from his home country Ecquador to Spain in 2000 while his family remained in Ecuador. From there, he went to Germany with a tourist visa repeatedly. He lives with his Polish wife in Berlin, where he made money as a street performer. A passerby informed him about thetalent show Das Supertalent. He applied for the fifth season in 2011 and was able to qualify for the final rounds. With an interpretation of “El cóndor pasa” with the panflute and other South American wind instruments, he came through the semi-finals. This resulted in a reunion of the musician with his mother from Ecuador, causing an emotional performance. At the finals on 17 December 2011, Rojas played the instrumental track “The Lonely Shepherd”, written byJames Last. Rojas won the competition with a distinct lead.
Same song on the street…

Om Sarvesham Swastirbhavatu- Tina Turner- A Chant for our times
May there be Well-Being in All,
May there be Peace in All,
May there be Fulfilment in All,
May there be Auspiciousness in All,
Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
Tina Turner, a life warrior, is a perfect living example of turning darkness into light, a longtime Nichiren Buddhist, who began her Buddhist practice in the 1970s while struggling to end an abusive relationship with musician Ike Turner and thought about committing suicide at her lows.
OM – The All-Knowledge of the three bodies of a buddha and of the infinite Buddha’s Holy Body, Speech and Mind. The knowledge of the two paths to enlightenment (Method and Wisdom), and of the two truths (Absolute and relative) that contain all existence within them. MUNI – Control over the suffering of the three lower realms and over the wrong conception of the self-existent I. MUNI – Control over the suffering of all samsara and over self-cherishing thoughts. MAHA MUNIYE – Great control over the suffering of subtle illusions and over the dualistic mind. SVAHA – May my mind receive, absorb and keep the blessings of the mantra, and may they take root.
2-hour chant of the Lotus Sutra
Sutra (Sanskrit) means a collection of aphorisms in the form of a condensed text.
One of the most influential Mahayina sutras
“For many East Asian Buddhists since early times, the Lotus Sutra contains the final teaching of the Buddha” Although the corpus of teachings attributed to the Buddha, if taken as a whole, embodies many contradictions, these contradictions are only apparent. Teachings are appropriate to the context in which they are given and thus their contradictions evaporate. The Buddha’s teachings are to be used like ladders, or, to apply an age-old Buddhist image, like a raft employed to cross a river. There is no point in carrying the raft once the journey has been completed and its function fulfilled. When used, such a teaching transcends itself. The Lotus sutra emphasizes that all these seemingly different teachings are actually just skillful applications of the one Dharma and thus all constitute the “One Buddha Vehicle and knowledge of all modes”.
Madonna- Ray of Light (1998)
Singing Shankaracharya (500 BC) adaptation in Sanskrit
I worship the gurus’ lotus feet
Awakening the happiness of the self revealed
Beyond comparison, working like the jungle physician
To pacify loss of consciousness from the poison of existence
In the form of a man up to the shoulders
Holding a conch, discus and sword
Thousand headed, white
I bow respectfully
